Private Strings Instructor (Violin, Viola, Cello, Bass) for K-8 Students
We are seeking a passionate and reliable private strings teacher to provide high-quality music instruction to students in Kindergarten through 8th grade. Lessons are held in a supportive and well-equipped teaching space. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in music education, enthusiasm for working with young learners, and the flexibility to teach one or more string instruments.
Position Details
Instruments: Violin, Viola, Cello, and/or Bass (candidates may specialize in one or more)
Lesson Format: Private, 1-on-1
Lesson Duration: 30 minutes each
Student Age Range: Grades K-8
Schedule: Part-time, flexible hours based on student demand from 3:30 pm
Location: Hickory Hill Academy, Madison, WI
Compensation: $20-30 per lesson, commensurate to experience level
Responsibilities
Deliver engaging and developmentally appropriate private lessons to students ages 5–14, ranging from beginner to intermediate level
Tailor instruction to meet each student’s skill level, goals, and learning style
Prepare students for school performances and individual repertoire
Communicate regularly with parents/guardians about student progress
Maintain punctuality and professionalism in all interactions
Qualifications
Strong performance and pedagogical background on at least one orchestral string instrument
Experience teaching young children and beginners (preferred)
Degree in music education or performance (or current college-level study in music); equivalent experience considered
Friendly, encouraging, and patient teaching style
Reliable transportation and availability during after-school hours or weekends
